School Overview
Arlington Middle School is the home of the Golden Knights, “Where We Educate and Inspire Scholars with a Purpose.” This is an exciting time for Arlington Middle School as we enter a new era. We will have newly renovated classrooms and STEM labs that will help create learning experiences that impact student social, emotional and academic development. In our classrooms, children are encouraged to collaborate, communicate, and ask questions. All classrooms will incorporate some form of Action Based Learning (ABL). Per research based best practices, ABL supports the link between movement and learning to improve academic performance and behavior. Our mission is to spark the innate curiosity and creativity of scholars through engaging hands-on experiences and exposures through a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math lens that will empower learning.

What is STEM? STEM education is the culmination of the individual disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in a hands-on, engaging way. STEM students practice the habits of critical thinking, problem solving, discourse, real-world connection and goal-oriented action through cross disciplinary curricular experiences. STEM means that educators from a variety of disciplines will plan together to create experiences where students explore the depths of academic standards through real-world applications. Educators will approach the development of content standards through the lens of inquiry- and problem-based learning experiences.
Art and music options are offered to students at all IPS schools. At the middle school level, arts are a core requirement of IB curriculum and integrated into STEM programming.

Extracurricular and Club Offerings: Every Tuesday and Thursday AMS scholars have the opportunity to participate in IMPD Cares and Dream Alive after school programming, Other extracurricular activities include volleyball, basketball, football, cheer, softball, baseball, soccer, foosball, track and field, Girls STEM Institute @ IUPUI, Robotics, Chess Club, Gaming Club, Fresh Food Garden, Art Club, Virtual Reality Club, AMS Community Planetarium, Family and Community Resource Center, tennis, wrestling, swimming, golf and more.
